First of all, avoid being in an accident. Having a clean accident-free driving record is a big plus for negotiating lower rates from your auto insurance company. That you are a good driver makes the risk level for the insurance company to be relatively low thereby giving you more power to make certain demands especially on lower rate considerations.

Also having a clean driving record will make you top choice and a better client to the insurance companies around.

You should endeavor to understand some of the value added services that auto insurance companies provide. Most times, these services help you save both time and money. A good insurance company will surely love to have smiling customers and one of the greatest means for achieving this is to increase service value while maintaining price points or even lowering the overall price.

You can save more if you have multiple policies running on the same account. For example you can have a life insurance policy, home renters insurance and your auto insurance policy all being active in the same account. This will normally prompt for a lower rate negotiation.

Insurance companies will cross check on some of your personal behaviors and habits. If you have a record of getting drunk on alcohol or excessive speeding with friends and over loading vehicles, then your record is that of a high risk for the insurance companies. Having a non-destructive record will surely give you more points for lower rates. The first step for you to get your lower rates is to get free auto insurance quotes from trusted agents online.

Where To Start?

By: Iyke Phelim

Is it really true that some people can get a cheaper auto insurance rate simply based on their job? What is the relationship between your occupation and your car insurance rates? Is it fair for auto insurance companies to charge higher premiums to those people who work in certain “higher risk” occupations? These are all important questions for everyone to ask, especially those who are working (which is most of us!) as many people do not realize that their occupation is one of the factors that many insurance companies use to determine their car insurance rates.

The world of occupations is a very broad one. Not only do occupations label who you are and what you do for a living, but now they have a lot to do with how much you are going to pay in the insurance business. Life insurance is a major example of this type of occupational division. High risk occupations such as construction workers, miners and some other professions in which the person is at risk of death and injury result in more expensive premiums compared to those in which the person is sitting behind a desk the whole day. Many people do not think that this is the job of automobile insurance, but it is my job to let them know they are highly mistaken. There are certain occupations that draw a major degree of attention to automobile insurance companies, while some others do now really represent a high risk for car insurance companies. Below you will be able to see where your occupation ranks and whether it works in your advantage or against you at the time of trying to get automobile insurance.

Based on the 2006 occupation report given by comparisonmarket.com the following are the 63 occupations starting with the cheapest one to get car insurance for and ending with the most expensive one.

1 Scientist $870.20

2 Retired $917.63

3 Currently not working $934.10

4 Pilot/Navigator $965.94

5 Disabled $968.14

6 Actor/Performer/Artist $971.10

7 Librarian/Historian $1,008.86

8 Farmer $1,015.62

9 Student $1,028.96

10 Public Official $1,068.83

11 Design Services $1,070.87

12 Waiter/Bartender/Host $1,071.25

13 Engineer $1,087.56

14 Athlete $1,088.29

15 Homemaker $1,091.73

16 Instructor/Coach/TA $1,098.86

17 Breeder/Groomer/Trainer $1,102.83

18 Clerk/Cashier $1,105.93

19 Computer/Math/Research $1,110.15

20 Chef/Baker $1,114.89

21 Teacher/Dean/Educ Degree $1,121.15

22 Machine Operator $1,126.34

23 Architect $1,130.71

24 Machinist/Toolmaker $1,131.33

25 Marketing/Advertising $1,135.33

26 Cleaning/Janitorial $1,136.02

27 Mechanic $1,138.33

28 Repair/Maintenance $1,142.89

29 Null $1,146.46

30 Military Officer $1,147.96

31 Tradesman/Manufacturer $1,150.80

32 Customer Service $1,151.92

33 Other – Prof w/Coll Degree $1,156.33

34 Construction/Skilled Worker $1,159.93

35 Technician $1,160.09

36 Other – No College Degree $1,181.74

37 Bank/Clerical/Office Staff $1,190.75

38 Nanny/Caretaker $1,193.97

39 Military E5+ $1,196.27

40 Admin. Let’s start with the top and why scientists, retired people and pilots or navigators rank up there. When you are a scientist your significant research is done in the home or at a company that pays you to be meticulous and find valuable information. This people often take those careful practices that they learn from work and use them on the road. Scientists are thought to be careful individuals that think things twice and always pay full attention at the actions that they are doing. For this reason they tend to be better drivers out there than many other occupations and because of these reasons they average premium is right at $870 a month.

After this comes the retired person with a premium of about $917 a month. Retired people don’t do much throughout the day and many of them stay at home watching TV or doing things to their house. Sometimes they decide to go out and drive to the grocery store and other places, the places they travel to however; are short distances, hence there is a lower probability that these people will get into an automobile accident when they do drive. It is good to note that many retired people do drive a lot, but these is an average of all the retired people and since there are a lot of what we call “baby boomers” in our population, the majority of retired people follow the pattern described above.

Pilots and Navigators are fourth on the list with an average premium of $965, which is relatively low in comparison to other professions. Automobile insurance companies see this people are responsible individuals that are good at what they do. These people usually have the lives of other human being in their hands and that usually translates to the road. When these people drive they are thought to do it cautiously and defensively and many of them usually take the same actions that they do at work, making them great at driving and very defensive behind the wheel.

On the other side of the table we see attorneys, lawyers and judges with an average monthly premium of $1,370. A big reason for the change can be due to the fact that these people purchase more expensive vehicles than the three occupations we have discussed above. Since most of these people are still making payments on the car or they are leasing it, they find themselves with a full coverage policy, which can be very expensive. Their cars are usually harder to fix and they require more expensive parts and labor, for this reason insurance companies try to make up for the “risk” by giving them more expensive policies.

Second to last we see executives who pay about $1,375 for automobile insurance a month. There people also purchase expensive cars that are harder and more expensive to fix, but you have to add another detail. Executives are constantly on the phone with people all around the country and the world. For this reason they are more likely to be paying attention to their cell phones while driving, which has been proven to be one of the major causes of accidents in the United States. Because of this little thing called cell phone, executives face one of the most expensive monthly premiums of any occupation.

Last but not least we find ourselves with the most expensive occupation to insure by an automobile insurance company, the business owners. With an average monthly premium of a staggering $1,405, the business owners have the highest rate out of any profession. The reason for this is that these people live a very stressful life. Trying to keep their main source of a job operating correctly can take a toll on this people and the more stress you drive under; the higher your chances of making mistakes out on the road. Add to this that they spend countless hours on the road and that some of them use their cars for business purposes; and you will be facing the most expensive premium out there.

As you can see your occupation has a lot to do with the way that you are perceived to an automobile company. Unfortunately for people that fall in one of the expensive categories and that are good drivers, they will always be seen as part of the group in which they work. Occupations have a lot to do with who you are and what you are seen like, and now you can see that your profession goes farther than that because is not being use to determine your automobile rates!

By: James J.

What factors affect the cost of your Pennsylvania auto insurance rates? It is important to understand these factors in order to find cheap Pennsylvania auto insurance rates because after all; who want to pay more for their PA car insurance policy than they have to?

The state of Pennsylvania like many others has their own requirements when it comes to automobile insurance. The state that has approximately 12 million people is home to many big cities such as Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Rates change accordingly to where people live and what they drive. It is important to understand that rates are not the same for everyone and that there are many different things that you can do to lower your rates. Below you will find out some valuable information about automobile insurance rates in Pennsylvania and some key information about how rates are calculated.

Pennsylvania Auto Insurance Rates Of The Past

Although there is not exact figure of the average rate of car insurance premium that the everyday Pennsylvania resident pays nowadays, there are statistics that show how much they had paid in the past. In the year 2003 the average Pennsylvania premium was about $909 compared to the national average of about $914. It is important to understand that the premiums have been on the rise since then simply because automobiles have been converted to a necessity instead of a luxury. It is also known that the first drop of automobile insurance rates came in 2007 when most premiums dropped from 0.5 to 1% and in 2008 and beyond experts predict that the rates will go up again!

Determinants Of Automobile Insurance Rates In Pennsylvania

The PA automobile insurance industry like many others has determinants on how their rates are calculated. It is important to understand these important factors because the more you know about what determines your rate, the more money you may be able to save.

1. Place of Residence: One of the most important determinants of your PA car insurance rates is your place of residence. If you live in a rural community you will not pay that much in car insurance simply because the likelihood of an accident is not that great. On the other hand if you live in a big city like the ones mentioned above, you will have to pay more per month. Add to the many traffic jams and the number of accidents and the risk of your vehicle being stolen and the premium will increase to a great degree.

2. Your Age and Gender: This is one of the most important determinants of the rates in Pennsylvania automobile insurance industry. The rates in the auto insurance business are high when you are a teenager and you are starting to drive, are lower when you are a middle aged American (usually from 26-50) and then they get high again when you become a senior citizen. A reason for this is that teens and senior citizens tend to have a higher accident risk than do middle aged people. Your gender will also be a determinant because although there is a common widespread idea that women drive worse than men, it is men who get in more accidents than women because they tend to drive more aggressively. Because of this men’s rates are usually higher than those of women.

3. Vehicle Type and Year: This is very important because it is the most used determinant when it comes to insurance companies coming forth with a rate. Every year insurance companies get a top 100 countdown of the cars with the most injuries after an accident and the ones that are at the highest risk of being stolen. Those cars at the top of both categories will be the ones that will be expensive to insure because they are of more “risk” to the insurance company. Another thing important to highlight and that may be bad for those drivers that own sports cars is that insurance companies usually charge those drivers a lot more for car insurance. The reason for this is that in the automobile insurance business speed is associated with accidents and although some may argue that it is not fair to discriminate against sports car owners, the auto insurance industry does just that.

4. Credit Report: Many people don’t understand why this has anything to do with the rate of your automobile insurance. The truth is that for any insurance in the market nowadays, credit report is very important. If you have a good credit report you will have to pay less money than someone who doesn’t have good credit. This is simply because auto insurance companies are protecting themselves from those drivers that cannot pay regular monthly premiums.

Pennsylvania Automobiles With The Highest Car Insurance Rates

Most Expensive for Theft:

1. If somehow you fit under the categories of factors that will allow you to have a lower rate then congratulations! If on the other hand you live in a big city, drive a sports car, and your vehicle is at the top of the lost of most stolen vehicles then don’t panic; you can still find a well priced policy.

Is it possible to find cheap Washington DC auto insurance rates? The car insurance required by law in Washington DC is more than that in many other states. This is probably part of the reason it is also in the top 10 for average auto insurance cost. Washington DC requires the same basic liability and property damage insurance as most other states. However, they also require uninsured motorist bodily and property damage. Don’t give up hope, though, there are some things you can do to reduce your insurance premiums.

1. First, investigate every possible discount available. There are many types of discounts, some are offered by most companies and other, lesser-known discounts, are only offered by a few. Be sure to ask each company you are investigating about their available discounts.

2. Second, take a look at yourself. Your driving record, your daily commute, your credit history and your vehicle can all affect your insurance rate. You can save yourself a lot of money in insurance premiums by driving safely, cleaning up any credit issues, using public transportation or car pools, and selecting a safe, low theft risk vehicle.

3. Third, compare companies. Rates vary widely between companies, even in the same areas. While you always want to contract with a company that has a solid reputation and good rating, you can find differences in the rates companies will charge even for similar policies.

4. Finally, though you do not want to compromise coverage, you can raise your deductible. Raising your deductible to the highest amount you can afford may save you hundreds each year on your premiums while still offering protection in the event of an unforeseen accident.

All of this searching may seem a bit overwhelming, but you can actually get rate quotes from insurance companies very easily online. Those who offer the features you need at rates you are happy with can also be checked easily for stability and ratings. You are really just minutes away from finding a cheaper DC auto insurance rate than you have now.

By: James J. Robinson

Finding auto insurance quotes online is easy, but finding the cheapest auto insurance rates can be more of a challenge. To get the lowest quotes, follow these tips to help you find ways to trim possibly hundreds off your auto insurance quotes.

1. Give them details – If you don’t provide information about your zip code, marital status, car’s safety features, and annual commuting miles, by default insurance companies will quote you a higher auto insurance rate. Provide as much detail as possible to make sure you get each discount that you qualify for.

2. Shop around – Auto insurance rates can vary as much as 300% between companies for the same coverage. You can save hundreds of dollars a year by comparing prices between companies. Don’t forget to check out your current insurance company, they may have lower rates for new customers that you may be able to negotiate for yourself.

3. Raise your deductible – Higher deductibles equal lower insurance premiums. For example, increasing your deductible from $250 to $500, can save you a hundred dollars or more on your annual premium. However, plan on having additional financial resources to cover the deductible in case of an accident.

4. Cut the miles you drive – For drivers who travel on average 40 miles or less a day, they qualify for a low mileage discount with most insurance companies. Consider carpooling or taking public transit a couple of days a week to reduce your car’s mileage to qualify for the discount. By flying or taking a train for vacations instead of driving, you can further reduce the miles on your car.

5. Switch drivers – For married couples, compare insurance quotes between the male as the main driver and the female as the main driver. You may get a lower quote if the female is insured on a truck and the male is insured on the minivan. Teens should also be insured on safer cars such as the family sedan, rather than a sports car.

6. Add an anti-theft device – By installing car alarms or a tracking system in your car, you will get a discount from auto insurance companies. Since anti-theft devices reduce the risk of your car being stolen, insurance companies pass on the savings to you. A certified defensive-driving class can also reduce your premium for three years with most insurance companies.

By: Carrie Reeder

Wyoming is one of the many states that require car owners to carry at least minimum amounts of liability coverage. Therefore, at any one time there are numerous Wyoming residents who are looking to find themselves cheap Wyoming auto insurance rates. It can be done and it is actually a very simple process.

4 Steps To Cheap WY Car Insurance Rates

Step 1: Analyze your needs

Wyoming requires liability coverage of 25/50/20 and strongly suggests similar limits of uninsured motorist coverage. If your car is financed, the lender will require collision and comprehensive coverage. Raising deductibles on collision and comprehensive will help to save you money.

Step 2: Get lots of quotes

Use a free online quote tool that gives you the luxury of answering the standard insurance questions only once, in return for numerous quotes from insurers serving your area.

Step 3: Compare quotes

The more quotes you compare, the better the chances of finding the cheapest Wyoming car insurance rate. Just remember that if you have one quote that is very different than all the others there is probably a good reason for it. Look carefully at coverage limits, policy details and the company’s financial stability when comparing.

Step 4: Ask about discounts

When you’ve gotten a great rate, go back to the company and ask about any additional discounts you may be eligible for. Most companies offer discounts for a variety of things and some may easily have been missed in the quote process.

In the long run, there are many other things you can do to ensure that your insurance rates are cheap, like buying certain cars or keeping your driving record clean. However, when you are ready to buy Wyoming car insurance the best way to get the cheapest price is with the 4-step process above.

By: James J.

Auto insurance rates are funny things. There may come a time when an insurance company will offer you a particular rate, yet offer a friend a completely different one. Many things factor into how insurance rates vary from one individual to another, the different parts of the country, or even one insurance company to another. Before you purchase an auto insurance policy, it is highly recommended that you compare rates between several companies so you get the best rate possible. Of course, comparing insurance prices is a wise idea.

Our rates may go up and down with the current market. They can go up whenever there is additional risk involved in the insurance policy. The higher of a risk that you pose, the higher your premiums will be to cover that risk. For example, if someone have gotten into several traffic violations, their insurance rates are likely to go up. Their risk has now increased. The risk to cover a teenage driver who is inexperienced is higher, so the insurance company will want more money to insure them than a lower-risk driver.

The company also makes the car insurance decisions. Some insurance companies will offer more benefits to those that have multiple insurance policies with them. Others will offer discounted rates to individuals that have good students. Still, there are excellent rates for individuals that have good credit scores too. Yet, even with all of this determined, there are still many other factors that go into the insurance rates that a company will offer to you. This only includes the costs that are charged by the insurance company. other offer lower rates than others

Shopping around for the lowest insurance rates for your auto is essential. You’ll find it pays to shop around as some companies offer lower rates for apparently no reason at all! Secure the date to analyze them and conserve money on insurance.

By: Ian E. Wright

It’s often difficult for most under-25’s to get to this in California: Low cost car insurance rates. The simple reason is that drivers under 25 years of age are statistically high risks in auto insurance. The younger a driver is, the more difficult it is for the to get low cost auto insurance unless they know a few thing. This write-up will teach you some of those things.

1) While this may look like a joke, get married and you’ll get lower rates.

2) Increasing your deductible lowers your premium. However, make sure you don’t choose deductibles that are more than you can provide with ease. An insurance company is only bound to make out payments for claims after you’ve paid such deductible.

3) Insurance companies have specific driving classes that are designed to improve your driving. Get trained in defensive driving. Defensive driving classes that are accepted by your auto insurance provider will certainly bring down your auto insurance premium.

4) Make sure you get a car that is equipped with safety devices. Cars with such features have a high safety rating. Such a car will make it easier for you to get low cost car insurance in California.

5) Insurance companies reward you with cheaper auto insurance rates if you make good grades — A’s and B’s…

6) You can be on your parents’ auto insurance policy. To make this work you would have to live with them and register your car in their name. If prefer to live on your own then you’ll have to pay higher rates.

7) You can get more affordable car insurance rates now by visiting at least three insurance quotes sites. Requesting quotes from at least three quotes sites increase your chances of getting low cost car insurance in California. This is because insurers not covered by one site will be covered by the other.

By: Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

Finding a low auto insurance quote for young drivers can be a big challenge in all probability, they are more likely to be involved in an accident than older drivers. Auto insurance companies know this and thus they charge higher insurance rates to young drivers. Fortunately, there are a few things you younger drivers can do to cut down on those higher premium rates.

Prior to you searching for lower rates, you should first comprehend why auto insurance rates are so high for younger drivers. As stated earlier, young drivers contribute to a majority of the accidents. Their experience has not yet reached the level where they can competently handle the car, and there judgment and personality does not make them good judges of situations. Young people think they’re invincible and therefore they are more predisposed to engaging in risky driving e.g. excessive speeding.

Today’s younger drivers have more distraction than ever. These distractions are a result of all the personal technology gadgets that we have today. They are capable of texting, updating their social networking pages and personal blogs, and talk on the phone while driving. These communication technological advances that have been made have also provided a lot of distractions to younger drivers who constantly want to be communicating or networking.

In conclusion, younger drivers are also not interested in safer cars or good driving records. They are more interested in fast cars and speed. A blend of new drivers, fast cars, and probably bad driving records tell the auto insurer one thing, high risk and that will in turn mean higher insurance rates to cover that risk.

By: William Benke
